ART DE LEX Partners took part in IBA International Conference «Law Firm Management»
On the 29th of November 2013 annual international conference «Law Firm Management» was held in Moscow, and for the seventh time it summoned up leaders of legal community and specialists in the area of law firm management from all over the world.
The conference program was aimed at international audience, organizing committee dedicated the plenary session to the issue of global capital transference and the role of lawyers in this process. The key session «Follow the money: are law firms ready to follow the capital flows?» raised the question on the extent to which law were ready to redirect the work to accompany capital outcome, not its inflow; were they ready to change in connection to replacement of economics specialization, which recently had been investors, and now are becoming recipients.
Finance issue was viewed at this year conference not only in global dimension, but also locally. In special session «Financial Management in Law Firms» participants discussed how to maintain necessary profit level under pressure from big business in terms of reducing and optimising the legal budget.
In the context of business development the issue of knowledge management in law firm was discussed. Particular emphasis was made on the discussion of the level of accuracy, extent of the attention to details that law firms shall focus on when accumulating, systematizing, storing and organizing the use of unique knowledge and information, that assist them in business development.
In the last years sociologists often refer to the emergence of a new generation – «Generation Y». Within the session «Meet the Generation Y: are these youngsters already here, at new post-soviet markets?» experts discussed international view of generation Y issue, talked about how specifically this new generation manifests itself in business. How to see and to give a chance to a new generation leaders, how "the Ys" manifest themselves in legal business, what their portrait in the Russian-speaking countries is, and how they transform legal business models according to their new values.
This year session on the risks control was dedicated to a complex issue. How can small and middle foreign law firms recognize high-quality contractor in the Russian-speaking area: how to find «best friend», how to implement a comprehensive review of the contractor and to organize control of work quality.
The participants finished the event with session on the theme «It's time to change is it not? Professional approach to your motivation crisis» with the discussion about ways to approaching with motivation crisis and reaching new level of personal and business development, and with discussion «Responsibilities sharing between partners», where Dmitry Magonya, ART DE LEX managing partner took part as a speaker. This session focused on the issue of sharing responsibilities between partners on the issue of specific responsibilities of managing partner and on optimal structure of his involvement to different processes of law firm work.
