III annual Pravo.ru conference on “Compliance 2018: Trends and best practices”

Yesterday, the third annual conference titled “Compliance 2018: Trends and best practices” took place at the Marriott Royal Aurora Hotel in Moscow. The event brought together the best specialists in the field of compliance, along with representatives of regulatory bodies. The experts shared their experiences and discussed the difficulties in building effective compliance systems.

Dmitry Gavrilenko, a senior associate in the International Economic Compliance Practice at ART DE LEX, moderated the session “Antitrust compliance in its present state,” and he moderated and spoke at the session titled “Sanctions compliance: New wave–new rules.”

In the course of the discussion dedicated to antitrust compliance, representatives of the FAS of Russia addressed the current status of the draft law on antitrust compliance, which is slated for adoption in the first quarter of 2019, and shared their vision of how the antitrust authority will assess the effectiveness of antitrust risk prevention systems. Business representatives discussed best practices and their experience in using antitrust compliance.

The session on sanctions compliance aroused great interest among the attendees because the risks currently associated with sanctions affect a large number of companies, even if they are not directly involved in foreign transactions and interactions with foreign partners. In his report, Dmitry Gavrilenko considered tools to improve the efficiency of compliance systems, given the conditions of uncertainty that exist in the regulatory environment of sanctions regimes. The experts at the session also shared cases from their own experience and offered advice about how to build a compliance system for managing sanctions risks.
