Why Poland campaigns for a new antitrust investigation against Gazprom

The European Commission (EC) has to initiate a new antimonopoly case against Gazprom, there are sufficient grounds for it, said 9 December the Climate Minister of Poland Anna Moskva on the air of state radio company Polish Radio. «There are a lot of tools within the scope of an antitrust investigation, and the EC is a real expert in it», – she said.

Under the circumstances, Poland is trying to use all available controls to put pressure on Gazprom, as told Vedomosti the Head of the Antitrust Law at ART DE LEX. He supposed that by doing so PGNiG is trying to obtain from Gazprom a discount on gas requested by it in October 2021. Then the company requested to take into consideration in pricing for gas in November the “unprecedented growth” of gas prices in Europe (Vedomosti wrote about it).
