Dmitry Magonya was a speaker at the Forum of the Russian-British Chamber of Commerce held in London on 28-29 May

The first event within the framework of the Forum was Gala Dinner for 200 guests organized in the building of Royal Automobile Club. The dinner was opened by HRH Prince Michael of Kent (HRH Prince Michael of Kent GCVO) GCVO and Alexander Yakovenko, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Great Britain. Representatives of foreign policy agencies and business communities of both countries attended the dinner.

The major event of the Forum was a next morning’s conference in BMA House started with welcoming remarks from HRH Prince Michael of Kent GCVO. (HRH Prince Michael of Kent GCVO) The conference encompassed a number of sessions devoted to regulatory and investment environment in Russia, prospects of development of International Financial Centre in Moscow and issues of business and cultural cooperation between Russian and British companies.

Mr. Tim Barrow CMG LVO MBE, Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Russia, and Mr. Alexander Yakovenko, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Great Britain, in their reports discussed the current status of relationship between the two countries and long-range cooperation objectives.

Addresses of Rt Hon David Wootton, Lord Major of London City, and Rt Hot Tim Eggar, President of the Russian-British Chamber of Commerce, aroused huge interest.

In the sessions there participated representatives of Russian and British business circles including, in particular, banks, international manufacturing and service companies as well as law and audit firms.

  • "St. Petersburg and the northern region of Russia"
  • "Russian regions: business development opportunities".

A special session was devoted to opportunities for the British business arising in regions of Russia. Dmitry Magonya, a managing partner of Art de Lex, and Catherine Workman, a partner of Pinsent Masons LLP co-reported on the issue of development of public-private partnership as a basis of development of transport, communal and other infrastructure. Joint work in preparation of the Forum was one of events under the programme of cooperation contemplated between Art de Lex and Pinsent Masons LLP in the area of development of public-private partnership and corporate law.
