Irina Akimova to moderate a session of the Eurasian Antitrust Forum

As one of the most experienced and well-known experts in the field of antitrust regulation, Irina Akimova was invited to EAF18 as the moderator of one of the key sessions, "Prophylactic Measures to Prevent Violations of Antitrust Law.”

The session, organized with the active participation of the Russian Association of Antimonopoly Experts, is devoted to the discussion of the most relevant aspects of the development and application of various state and corporate preventive measures to eliminate antitrust violations. The session will be attended by representatives of the antimonopoly services and leading experts in the field of antimonopoly regulation of the CIS countries.

"In the course of transformation of the antimonopoly service from a punitive to a preventive one, preventive measures aimed at minimizing antimonopoly risks become particularly important. Issuance of warnings by the regulator and the development of compliance systems and commercial policies by companies create a favorable environment for the development of competition in general. The member states of the EAU and, in particular, Kazakhstan, have a rather extensive practice in this area. Therefore, the exchange of professional experience on such a representative platform as the EAF is extremely important," says Irina Akimova.

The key mission of the representative Eurasian Antitrust Forum is to strengthen ties between Europe and Asia by creating an international dialogue platform for the exchange of views of the scientific and expert community, government agencies, and businesses on antitrust regulation issues.

The Forum is organized by: the Committee on Regulation of Natural Monopolies, Protection of Competition, and Consumer Rights of the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan; the Kazakhstani JSC Center for Development and Protection of Competition Policy; and the Association for Development of Competition and Commodity Markets.

In 2018, the forum is supported by: the Competition Committee of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD); the Interstate Council on Antimonopoly Policy of the CIS countries; the Eurasian Economic Commission; and the Court of Justice of the Eurasian Economic Union.

Partners of the 2018 Forum include: NP Competition Promotion in the CIS; the Kazakhstani Alliance of Antimonopoly Experts; and the Russian Association of Antimonopoly Experts, among others.
