Legal Forum Russia, VIII Annual Business Forum, 17-18 April 2012, Moscow

On April, 18 Dmitry Magonya, managing partner of ART DE LEX Law Firm, took part in the Legal Forum of Russia – VIII annual business forum held in Moscow on 17 — 18 April 2012 in Marriott Royal Aurora Hotel.

This annual business forum is a significant event for the entire legal community and is an independent platform for sharing opinions between legislative power, judiciary establishment, heads of corporations, corporate lawyers and law firms where they discuss problematic issues of legislation and law enforcement affecting the development of real sector of economy of Russia.

The following topics had been considered within two days of the discussion platforms:

  • Does institution of advocacy correspond to modern business realities?
  • Expansion of functions of notarial system in modern environment
  • Purchase of legal services: problems of choice (about efficient patterns of interaction between legal advisors and corporate lawyers)
  • What hampers effective justice in Russia?
  • Efficiency of execution of judgments: problems of enforcement proceedings in Russia
  • Responsibility of owners, managers and contractors of an organization in case of its bankruptcy

Dmitry Magonya, managing partner of ART DE LEX Law Firm, acted as a moderator during the session “Regulatory Support in Financial Sector. Current Regulations and the Near Future”.

The following topics and issues were touched upon at the session:

Condition of financial market and its impact on national economic growth. Plans on organization of International financial centre in Moscow determine Russia’s place in the world economy in the future. How can we make our financial market more capacious and more transparent? How can we improve quality of infrastructure in financial sector? How can we secure the observance of rights of financial market participants? How state control should be improved?

“Topical issues of improvement of legal regulation of state control over financial market”

The following experts addressed the session: Alan Thomson, director, Russian-British Chamber of Commerce; Inna Vjalkova, head of legal service, Chartis Insurance Company; Artjom Konovalov, head of legal department, Binbank; Kirill Rozhovetsky, deputy head of legal department, Raiffeisenbank; Dmitry Charakhchyan, deputy head of professional activity support department, Aton.

All experts expressed their points of view on a number of issues relating to problematic of the Russian and English legislation, development of competition between organizations, in particular, companies in financial sector as Russia joins the WTO and also discussed some other urgent problems.

Upon discussions speakers and experts of the session answered the questions from the audience.

Over 250 people participated in the forum.
