ART DE LEX’s Focus on South Korea

ART DE LEX has released its most recent edition of Focus on South Korea, which contains four important articles.

  • The Russian government will begin investment projects in the Far East and Baikal Regions, based on a number of specific criteria, that will have a positive impact on Russian-Korean relations.
  • A delegation of South Korean business leaders along with the deputy mayor of Sokcho traveled to the Leningrad Region to explore additional investment possibilities in and around St. Petersburg. The increased economic activity will supplement the growing Leningrad Region-South Korean trade that had a value of USD 50 million for the first half of 2014 alone.
  • In October, representatives from Primorye Province, whose capital is Vladivostok, signed an export agreement with the free trade zones of Yulchon and Kimje in the Republic of Korea. This will increase business opportunities for Primorye, including the manufacturing of parts for South Korean automobiles.
  • A Russian-South Korea management company will build a diagnostic and recreational center, including hotels, in Kaliningrad.  The Seoul National University Bundang Hospital and the Myungji Hospital will operate the facility. The investors are taking advantage of a Special Economic Zone and other programs to construct the facility that will be complete in three years and may expand in the future.
