How Belarusian potassium may bypass Lithuanian ban on transit
The Lithuanian government made a decision to terminate since 1 February the Lithuanian Railways (LTG) contract with Belarusian Belaruskaliy for transportation of potassium fertilisers. Such statement was posted 12 January on the web site of the Republic Cabinet of Ministers. The reason for the contract termination is stated as “national security interests”.
Attorney of International Economic Compliance of ART DE LEX Marat Samarsky notes that it is difficult to estimate the prospect of a BKK lawsuit against LTG not knowing the details of the contract. The parties did not officially disclose the terms and conditions of the transportation contract.
