On January 15, 2021, the U.S. Department of Commerce declared erroneous the inclusion of VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation in the "list of end military users" which considerably complicated the foreign economic activities of the company. The company was initially included in the list in December 2020 (a total of 45 Russian individuals recognized as "military end users" were on the list).

Directly or indirectly, this may have been contributed to by the company's longtime partner, the U.S. Boeing Corporation.
