Cancel culture: struggle for justice or discreditation

«Cancelling», «cancelled», «cancellation» - for the last couple of years, people hear these words almost more often than «sanctions» and «pandemic».

Cancel culture is a public reprimand of a person, brand or a company for an action that is not in line with generally accepted values. Talking about the cancel culture in the legal context, Artur Zurabian, ART DE LEX Partner, notes that depending on the expressed position or belonging to a certain group, it deliberately disqualifies the subject. From the point of view of the letter of the law, expression of such position does not infringe the law, as well as belonging to a certain group does not give any grounds for impairment of rights.
