The German regulator officially starts certification of the Nord Stream 2 operator

The German Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur, BNA) has received documents for certification of the Swiss Nord Stream 2 AG as an independent gas transmission operator, Interfax reports with reference to BNA spokesman Fiete Wolf. Nord Stream 2 AG owned by Gazprom is the owner of Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. The regulator’s decision can be made even before January 8, 2022, but it will largely depend on the position of Germany’s Federal Government, which may undergo changes after the Bundestag elections on September 26, 2021, Dmitry Magonya, ART DE LEX Managing Partner, says. He adds that following the BNA decision, the issue will be referred to the European Commission (EC).
