Europe will be unable to stockpile enough gas for the winter

Europe will not have enough time to fill up its underground gas storages before the start of the heating season, Gazprom Chairman Alexei Miller said at a plenary session of the International Business Congress on September 17. 

Dmitry Magonya, ART DE LEX Managing Partner, notes that according to the EU gas directive, it is the EC that will make the final decision on the fate of the gas pipeline. BNA has the right to make only a draft decision on certification in relation to the Nord Stream 2 operator. Without a corresponding ruling of the EC the BNA decision will have no legal force, says the lawyer.
