FAS tries out role of protecting consumer rights

Yaroslav Kulik, Head of Competition at ART DE LEX, has commented on the Federal Anti-monopoly Service’s (the “FAS”) proposed amendments to the law “On Protection of Competition”.

“From a consumer’s point of view, one could only applaud the wish to expand the role of the FAS in protecting consumer rights. However, in fact, it has been proposed to introduce a new institution of ‘unfair actions in respect of a consumer’, and it is not clear how a consumer relates to the Competition law in this respect, particularly in terms of article 14”, believes Mr. Kulik.
